GRATITUDE

Posted by on Nov 24, 2013

It is that time of the year again; Thanksgiving.  As we gather with family and friends on this special day we give thanks and focus on our blessings.  It is a time of reflection for many of us.  It is the beginning of the holiday season and it is a time of year that we tend to look outside of ourselves more.  We appreciate and express gratitude for who and what we have in our lives.

It can also be a difficult time.  The holidays can be stressful and full of anxiety for some.  Expectations can be daunting with a sense of failure looming over ones head.  We can easily set ourselves up for what we perceive as failure; but it is just an illusion.  Something our mind has created based on unrealistic expectations set by ourselves or set by someone else.  The media plays into this a lot.  The perfect holiday meal, the flawless family gathering, the ideal weather conditions.  We see these messages everywhere; just go to the supermarket and while standing in line you will see several magazines showing you how to cook the perfect turkey and plan the supreme family gathering.  It’s a difficult act to follow for most of us and can set us up for huge disappointment.

I truly believe it is important to relax and actually enjoy the holiday.  So what if the turkey turns out a little dry or the gravy has a few lumps.  Let go of the perfection.  I encourage you to hug your family and friends.  Let them know how much you appreciate them by saying a simple thank you.  Greet strangers with a big smile.  Let someone check out in front of you at the store.  Assist someone who needs assistance.  Pay it forward.

We are wired to focus on the things we don’t have, but this isn’t going to attract what we do want. Law of Attraction brings forth what we think about, so by putting emphasis on what we don’t want or have delivers more of the same.  Dream about what you do want, your desires and look for the abundance that surrounds you. Remain in the state of gratitude; not just for this one special holiday, but everyday.  Your life will change in miraculous ways.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!

EMBRACING THE IMPROMPTU PLAN

Posted by on Nov 10, 2013

Several types of plans are encountered during the course of our lives; daily, monthly, financial, vacation, life, to name of few.  Many of us work well when we have a plan.  A plan can provide us with direction in reaching specific goals.  Logically having a plan makes perfect sense for those who fall under the “planner” personality.  Mapping out the day, making lists, confirming appointments and reservations in advance; ensuring everything goes according to plan can provide comfort. There are calendars and daily planners to keep us on track.  Notes are written and phone reminders are set up. These are practical tools to get through the planned day; but what happens when the plan changes?    How do you respond?  Do you become frustrated or even angry?  Or perhaps the “why me” or victim syndrome emerges.  When this happens we can become ineffective and remain stuck in the reasons why things didn’t go according to plan.  It hinders us from moving forward and reaching our goals.

Living life from a strict plan closes the door to possibilities.  Flexibility and spontaneity allows for expansion. Releasing the need to control “the how”; “the why” and even “the when” allows for wondrous things to manifest.  Setting the crystal clear intention of what is desired and setting a pliable plan in motion is the first step of manifestation.

How many times have you put a plan in motion, only to accomplish your goal very differently than you initially planned?  I admit, like many of you I am a work in progress; as I do enjoy a good plan; but I’ve learned life is an adventure and is more enjoyable when I allow myself to be spontaneous and open to all possibilities.

I encourage you to embrace flexibility and spontaneity when planning your next activity and witness all the possibilities!

GROUNDING TO MOTHER EARTH

Posted by on Nov 3, 2013

How connected are you to Mother Earth?  A friend posted a documentary on Facebook, entitled “Grounded” by Dr. Joseph Mercola.  I found the short movie to be very interesting.  It basically discusses the health benefits of walking barefoot grounding the body to the Earth.  Research and studies have been performed on this “Grounding” or “Earthing” and while the jury is still out regarding the medical professionals, the whole idea made sense to me.  We know that everything is energy and these studies indicate that walking barefoot allows free electrons from the Earth to enter the body through the soles of the feet. The claimed health benefits deal with chronic inflammation, chronic pain, high blood pressure and sleep issues, naming a few.  The best places to walk barefoot are the beach, grass and even concrete; as long as it isn’t sealed or painted.  Asphalt, wood and insulators; like rubber and plastic block the electrons.   Shoes serve as a conductor as long as they have leather soles.  Soles made of manmade materials; like rubber and plastic block the electrons.

As I contemplated this concept today, it reinforced my belief of the importance of connecting regularly with Mother Earth.   I know when I am at the beach I feel wonderful.  I never suffer from allergies at the beach.   The combination of the water, negative ions and possibly the free electrons from the Earth have a healing quality.  Also, as a kid, I always walked around the yard in my bare feet.  To this day, I prefer to be barefoot.  Just being in nature is relaxing.  Somewhere along the way did we become so busy and so detached that we’ve lost an important connection?   One that could actually improve our overall health without taking a pill?

As a society I believe we take for granted the simple things in life.  We tend to make everything complicated; putting a value on something based on how much it costs monetarily.  The truth is the most exquisite things in life are the simple things and many times those things are free.  We just forget to look around with wonderment and gratitude.  Take some time out in your day, hug a tree, take your shoes off and walk barefoot, reconnect with Mother Earth, marvel at your surroundings.  I encourage you to start the day in wonderment and end the day in gratitude.

If your interested in “Grounding” or “Earthing” check out the different articles on the internet and arrive at your own conclusion.  I for one will be walking barefoot more often.

Have a blessed week and I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL LOVED?

Posted by on Nov 3, 2013

We all want to feel loved and appreciated, it is a basic human requirement and we express our love to our loved ones in different ways.  Learning and knowing what makes the people we care about feel loved and appreciated leads to healthy, happy relationships.  Do you know what actions make you feel loved?  What about your partner or your children, do you know what makes them feel loved? For some it is spending quality time together, others expressing a kind word of encouragement or performing some type of service.  It could be presenting someone with gifts or cards, letting them know you care or perhaps it is giving someone a hug.

My personal expression of love is hugging.  Receiving a hug makes me feel very special and loved.  As I look back on my childhood I’ve noticed that the expressions of love from my parents were not in alignment with my language.  Mom would perform acts of service to show her love and Dad expressed his love with words of encouragement and spending alone time with me.  They were not huggers, but my Grandpa was a true hugger and those are very fond childhood memories.  He gave the very best “bear” hugs.  Many times we communicate our love to others the way that makes us feel loved; but what makes you feel loved may be insignificant to others.  How much fun would relationships be if you were dialed in and knew what made the people in your life tick?  Can you imagine dealing with your children differently?

There are wonderful books written about the topic of “The Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman.  He goes into great detail and even provides tools to assist you in determining your love language.  I highly recommend these books as becoming aware of the differences between people and what makes them feel special can have a profoundly affect your relationships.

Take your relationships to the next level and let me know the outcome of learning how to communicate your love to those who count the most in your life.

THE EGO MIND ISN’T THE BAD GUY!

Posted by on Nov 3, 2013

Our ego mind is a necessary part of us.  It allows us to make logical decisions.  Where we get into trouble, is when we are controlled by our ego mind.  As you become aware of your mind chatter, the self doubt talk, the “You can’t do that!” talk or “Who do you think you are?” talk, we have the ability to quiet the ego mind.  Like many of you, I will gently say, “I hear you, I love you, now please be quiet or please go away.”

I’ve recently discovered a different way to handle the ego mind, a more loving way.  The ego mind is based around fear, and fear can stop us from moving forward in life.  So now when I hear my own mind chatter I acknowledge the fear in a loving way.  I gently say, I hear you, I love you and I know you are scared, but there is no need to worry or be fearful, because I’ve got this covered.   Remember the more we push something away without acknowledgment, the stronger it comes back to us.

Like most things in life, it boils down to balance.  As we connect with our higher purpose, our spirit, the ego mind becomes threatened; because it has been in control.  The ego doesn’t like relinquishing control, so it fights to keep it.  The ego is needed for manifestation, so allowing it to live in a more healthy way is vital.  Awareness is key in any situation, and once you are aware, you can change the results.

Continue to live your best life, your life in spirit, listening to your heart and when your mind chatter picks up, honor it in a loving way.  If this process resonates with you, give it a try and let me know your outcome.
